St John recognises the need for a strong, vibrant and growing youth membership
Membership in St John can be a great way to learn life saving skills, gain nationally recognised competencies, meet fantastic people, help your local community and have fun while doing it!
Through St John, young people are able to engage with an organisation that allows them to have meaningful and relevant connection and contribution to their community, mentoring and role modelling in a safe environment, and real opportunities to develop their leadership and participation.

Youth development in St John
St John currently has more than 3,500 Cadets and around over 500 Juniors involved in our youth development programs! Becoming a St John Junior or Cadet is an exciting and rewarding experience. Through our youth development program, we provide opportunities for young people aged 8 to 18 to form friendships, give time and effort to help others, belong to a team and learn skills for life. Most of all Juniors and Cadets is about having FUN!

Youth participation
St John values young people’s contribution to the organisation and promotes a youth participation strategy that includes State, Territory and Australian Youth Councils. Youth councils in St John provide guidance to St John on issues affecting the organisation and its future development, particularly concerning the opinion and interests of young people.
